Fear of the Unknown
How many times were you scared of what might come up, without any valid reason?
How many moments of your life were wasted over a worry, that turned out to be just an illusion you created for yourself?
Fast heart beats, cold sweats, stomach cramps, and vivid scenarios start going through our mind…Until “Fear” takes over, and we start living today, where we are scared to live in the future! We ignore our present and dwell in this strong moment of fear, watching with our imaginative visions, the world collapsing in front of us! We impose the worst outcome to our mind, and by doing so, we give it the strongest weapon to fight any possible positive ray of light that might save us from where we drowned ourselves in…It’s really interesting how our mind can take us places, how it can throw us in the open arms of the Unknown! Suddenly we find ourselves in the middle of a self-tailored situation, that has no promises in the horizon. We are scared, lost, weak, overwhelmed by emotional and physical pain…That’s it, the worst will happen, you can see it coming, you can feel it to the point that you are living it!!
But why? Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we seek dramatic visions? Why do we let our fear set in and create its own atmosphere? Why can’t we learn to live today what we know, instead of living in the Unknown of tomorrow? How hard is it to ignore the bad scenarios, the worst thoughts, the unexplainable fears? How challenging is it to control our mind? That powerful mind!
How about we learn to value our present moment, and live it, consciously to the max. Being aware of what might come up, but being in control of how to feel about it right now. Getting ready to face the worst of tomorrow, but yet, staying calm enough to enjoy today.
Who knows what tomorrow holds? Who knows if there will be tomorrow? But one thing for sure, I am here now, breathing, living, enjoying every moment of my present day, it’s the gift that I was given when I opened my eyes this morning, I’m going to love it, and make good use of it!
As for the Unknown, I will not let the fear of it, take away my present moments…
What about you? Are you scared of the Unknown?
How do you face your fears? How do you let go? What’s your story?
